A climate champion is the one who plays a central role for an organisation to reduce their carbon emissions. They are the focal point for an organisation's efforts in reducing their carbon footprint and thus play an important part in making change happen.
In many countries and communities, youth are taking action on climate change mitigation and adaptation. Diverse initiatives include educational, awareness-raising and behavioural change campaigns. Youth also engage in climate change projects within different national and international organizations.
In January 2022, PRAJAKTA KOLI was appointed Youth Climate Champion by UNDP India. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.
PRAJAKTA KOLI is a popular content creator and actor, known as MostlySane on socials, has become the first United Nations Development Programme India Youth Climate Champion. She has been extensively known for her long-standing contribution towards mental health women rights and socially relevant youth-centric issues thro ugh various global campaigns.
