GAME- 6
On the Day six of the campaign #WriteAPageADay, GOLI a favourite game of many in the villages of Tamil Nadu will be presented in detail.
At first basic requirements of the game:
Number of persons: Minimum 2 and Maximum 4
Preferred age group: Above the age of 10
Duration of the play: Minimum half an hour, if played by only two people
Best time to play: Any time with good daylight.
Preferred surface:
Soil surface or any other rough surface
Things required to play: two Golis per player
How to play: For the toss, Draw a line on the surface
and stand at a particular distance and try to roll the goli, whose goli reaches
or touches the line, he should play first.
(Note: During the toss, the goli should not exceed the
line)
The one who won the toss will draw a circle and he
will place the two golis of the toss runner in the centre
of the circle. As a next step a line will be drawn six inches away from the
circle. This line is used by the player to keep his right thumb on it and with
the tip of the index finger and bending it with the index finger of the left
hand he will release the goli to hit the other goli in the centre of the
circle.
If he is successful in hitting the goli, the goli becomes his. One by one the remaining number of players will place their golis inside the circle. If he is unable to hit the goli, he should place his own goli inside the circle and allow the next player to take his turn. Like this all the participants will get chance one by one. The one who hits many golis and has more golis at the end is declared a winner.
Reference to this Game: This is mostly referred to as a
street game. In films this game is used
to create a visual effect of “bang on target”. This game helps to develop
concentration, aiming and strike on target.
This game has a bigger connect with the ‘’GOLI SODA’’
an aerated drink mostly enjoyed by villagers after a long walk. Children
collected golis from these broken goli soda bottles.
