On the Twenty eighth day of the
campaign #WRITE A PAGE A DAY, KAI PIDIKKUM VILAYATU is a game which is played
in the house holds of Tamil Nadu will be presented in detail. Children simply
start this game whenever they wish to play. It’s an easy and tireless game
At first basic requirements of the
game:
Number of persons: Minimum 2
Preferred age group: Above the age of
10
Duration of the play: half an hour
Best time to play: Any time of the day
How to play: The play begins usually with the elder one-
player1 (among the players) holding the hands like a flower or a bouquet or a
pocket. The other player (player 2) will start singing
“Amma kutthu, Dhimma kutthu; Paatti
kutthu Peran kutthu;
Petthi kutthu Pillaiyaar kutthu; Pidi kutthu Pidicchikko kutthu”
and place his fist in the pocket
whenever the word “ kutthu” comes in the
song.
When the last lines “Pidicchikko
kutthu” is sung and at that time the elder player should trap the younger ones
fist in his hands. Then he/she is out. Then that player will hold his hands
like a pocket and the game continues in the same procedure. If he/she is unable
to trap his fist, then the player2 is the winner.
Reference to this game: The song is part of the children’s rhyme books and
reference to this game can be found in stories dealing with the childhood
activities in the rural areas.
