On the Twenty sixth day of the campaign #WRITE A PAGE A DAY,   KIZHAMAI VILAYATU is a game which is played in the house holds of Tamil Nadu will be presented in detail. Children simply start this game when they have free time.

At first basic requirements of the game:

Number of persons: Minimum 2 Maximum 5

Preferred age group: Above the age of 10

Duration of the play: half an hour

Best time to play: Any time of the day

Preferred surface: on the floor

How to play:  First toss laid and the order of the players is decided or the one who is ready to play comfortably will take the first turn. For this game usually children practice one or twice before getting into the game.




The player should sit on the floor with his legs folded and his right palm should be placed on the right thigh and left palm on the left thigh. He/she should tap their palm once and start singing

 “Thingal Chevvai Budhan Vyazhan Velli, Sani Gnaayiru Thingal Chevvai Budhan Vyazhan Velli Sani, Gnaayiru Thingal Chevvai Budhan Vyazhan, Velli Sani Gnaayiru Thingal Chevvai Budhan Vyazhan”

And should touch their nose with left palm and left ear with right palm simultaneously. Then tap their palm on their thighs and should touch their nose with right palm and right ear with left palm. This should be done along with singing. Singing and action should go together. If he/she stops either singing or action he/she is out or if the pattern to touch ear and nose is not in order then also he/she is out. The action should continue till the song ends

The one who completes a round of singing and action without any break is considered a winner. Many rounds take place in the same procedure and sometimes the number of players decrease in every round.

 

Reference to this game:  This game is played to teach the names of the days of the week. Reference to this game can be found in the Tamil film “sivakavi”. The fun element lies in the Mismatches the players do while holding their ear and nose.
