On the sixteen day of the campaign #WRITE A PAGE A
DAY, PARAKUM VILAYATU a very ancient game which is played in the house holds of
Tamil Nadu will be presented in detail.
At first basic requirements of the game:
Number of persons: Minimum 5
Preferred age group: Above the age of 10
Duration of the play: minimum half an hour
Best time to play:
Any time of the day
Preferred surface: on the floor where five people can
sit in a circle
How
to play: As with every game, toss is laid with “inki pinki ponky” and the one
who is out will be the shouter for the game.The play starts with all the four
players sitting in a circle with hands touching the floor and the fifth will
stand and shout the line: “KOKKU PARA PARA” for three or four
times. Then all the players should rise their
hands up and do the action of “flying”.
Then the player will shout “KOZHI PARA PARA”. All the players rise their hands up and
do the action of flying.
If
he shouts “THATTU PARA PARA” or “DABBA PARA PARA” or any other thing
that can’t fly, the players should not do the action of flying. If any one does, he/she is out.
He/she
will go out of the game and the remaining people will continue the game from the
beginning. If there are more number of players in the game it will be
interesting and fun.
Reference to this game: The reference to this game can be found in the
most regular list of games at played at home. Many will have fond memories of
this game played during their childhood. It’s usual in villages at all the children
gather together at a place and spend the time in playing and chit chat.
