Food has always been one of life’s
simplest yet greatest joys for me. I love exploring the wide range of regional
cuisines that India offers — each with its own story, flavour, and soul. But if
I had to choose one dish that holds a special place in my heart, it would be Pal
Payasam.
And not just any pal Payasam — it
has to be the one prepared by my aunt. Her version is pure magic! The creamy
white dessert, served hot or sometimes gently warm, carries the perfect balance
of sweetness, milk, nuts, and ghee. Every spoonful melts in the mouth, creating
a comforting and almost nostalgic feeling that’s hard to describe in words.
My aunt makes it especially for me
whenever I visit her, and that makes it even more special. It’s not just a dish
anymore — it’s a memory, a gesture of love, and a bond that connects us beyond
words.
Now, if my favourite food — Pal
Payasam — could talk to me, I think it would be delighted by the affection I
have for it. It might smile (if sweets could smile!) and say,
“Thank you for cherishing me with
such love. You remind me that simple things made with care can create lifelong
joy.”
In return, I would proudly tell it
that the best Pal Payasam in the world is the one my aunt makes — and the one I
get to enjoy.
If it could truly speak, I believe
it would teach me an important lesson: to express love and appreciation more
openly, to spread the joy of gratitude, and to celebrate the people who make
our lives sweeter — just like my aunt does with her Pal Payasam.
