Nostalgia is one of the main
reasons people tend to watch and re-watch their favorite pieces of content.
This is especially true when we re-watch movies and shows we loved as a child.
We feel all fuzzy inside—a sense of satisfaction during unpredictable times.
Watching the same show
repeatedly increases your perceptual fluency which means that the
brain processes it easier than it would if it was something new. It's lighting
up the same neuropathways over and over again, priming them for activation.
Re-watching our favorite TV shows
can also be incredibly comforting and provide a safe space to regulate our
emotions and decompress. These shows give a sense of safety, especially when we
may be stressed out from work, struggling in our relationships, or anxious in
general.
Do watch your favorite shows and
be healthy. By the way, what’s your favorite show that you watch again and
again?
