A bedspread is an extra layer of bedding that
can be used as your
main cover in warmer weather or as a decorative piece during the colder months. More traditional than
quilts and coverlets, bedspreads extend all the way to the ground.
· We also recommend that you check the care label before washing your bedspread and set your machine on the gentle or delicate cycle. By washing on a cool or warm cycle, this will protect the colour and fabrics, keeping your bedspread looking new for longer.
· Do not put detergent directly on the fabric as straight detergent can cause discoloration. Instead, fill the washing machine with water and detergent to dilute the detergent and then add the sheets. Lastly, do not use fabric softener since this also breaks down the fibers.
· Wash in warm or cool water to prevent shrinking and fading. Use hot water carefully, as washing cotton in hot water can cause it to shrink.
· Luckily, cotton sheets are very easy to care for. Simply toss them in the washing machine with your favorite detergent on a warm water setting for the best results. Line dry or tumble dry on low or medium heat and promptly remove from the dryer for less wrinkles
· Unless the label specifically instructs otherwise—you can wash and dry your comforter at home using a large capacity washer and dryer with a mild laundry detergent. Simply spot clean stains and repair holes or tears, then wash using a bulky cycle with cool or warm water.
· Make sure the washing machine does not have a center agitator. Launder the bedspread using cold water and very little detergent on a delicate cycle. Do not use bleach. Tumble dry the bedspread in a commercial dryer on low heat.
· To hand-wash your comforter, use your bathtub. Fill the tub with cold water and add a mild detergent. Mix by swirling your hand in the water. Fully immerse your comforter in the water, but don't wring it out.
Thus top
choice for bedspreads is cotton, which is a soft and breathable material
compared to other fabrics. As cotton prevents overheating, it remains usable
all year — it's cool in summer and cozy in winter. Cotton is also ideal for
rough use in busy households, as it can withstand multiple washes.
