We visited our friends house recently and they took us to their living room to show us their new family member. Birds ! we said in a shocking voice. Because we had the opinion that:
Life in captivity is often a death sentence for birds, who may suffer from malnutrition, an improper environment, loneliness, and the stress of confinement. Birds are meant to fly and be with others of their own kind in a natural environment. Confinement causes birds to have temper tantrums and mood swings.
Can birds be like other pet ?
While not all birds will form a close emotional bond with humans, some do, and they can be very loyal and affectionate pets. While it hasn't been scientifically proven if birds can love or not, we can see a bird's affections through their personality and behavior.
Can they be with us all around the house?
Don't include your bird in household chores that involve the use of insecticides, ammonia, bleach, oven cleaners, and other common household cleaners, as they can make your bird severely ill.
"It is unwise to house a bird in the kitchen." Generally, it is unwise to house a bird in the kitchen, as there are too many potential hazards. PTFE (Teflon), as described above, is a major concern. Hot stove elements, open pots of hot water, soups or sauces, and even a sink full of water may be possible dangers.
What about their food?
Although there is no harm in putting food out every day, it's important that you stay vigilant on the amount of food that birds are consuming, and alter the amount you give according to this. To avoid food going bad, reduce the amount of food you offer to birds if you notice there is any leftover frequently.
Baby birds will also eat some fruits and vegetables, but insects should make up most of their diet. You can also feed them birdseed in small amounts. You can also supplement feed with peanuts – but you must make sure that they are not whole as this can cause them to choke
Broccoli, yellow squash, and greens are popular among birds, but other avian favorites include kale, carrots, peas, bell peppers, and root vegetables.
These are the questions raised by us and the answers given by them. Then we were relieved of the tension that can birds be safe as pet at home.
Do treat birds with care and attention and make them to feel well all the time.
I'd love see birds flying freely in the air.
