THREE ATTRACTIVE & LOVABLE THINGS TO SHARE ON THIS DEEPAVALI FESTIVAL

Food , clothes and crackers are the star attractions on Deepavali- the festival of lights.  Arrangements for these starts  months ahead of the festival day.  How these three items add a special effect to the festival  at home and what makes it to share the same with the under privileged ?  Let's check the importance of the essential three in this festival.

FOOD :

First and the foremost of all the three is Food. Apart from regular dishes in  breakfast, lunch, tea time and dinner, sweet and savouries  occupy a larger portion of the menu. Buying provisions for preparing sweets and savouries demands a lot of planning and execution. These are prepared in large numbers as these will be distributed among friends and neighbours.   Many kind hearted people sponsor a day to feed the children and senior citizens at  old age homes  with a  full traditional deepavali meal . Their joy doubles and the joy and fun of having a sumptuous meal is  guaranteed to the eater.

Few dishes require a lot of pre preparations and elders prefer to adopt the age old techniques for best quality product.  All these takes time. So starting early is the best option in completing the making of the calculated hot and sweet items.  Adhirasam is one such sweet preparation. Laddu 's are prepared in two different ways, one using sugar and the other jaggery. Jangiri, Badusha, Therati pal are a few in the sweet list and thengkual, ribbon pakoda, and manoppu make it to the savories.

In business circle many caterers  in Chennai take wedding halls for rent and prepares sweets and savouries of many varieties  for sale. If you like to try Tamil Nadu's special hot and sweet, order here

Caterer Pattappa’s is offering traditional sweets and savouries this Diwali season.  The ‘Diwali Bakshanam’ will be available at Pattappa’s Thaligai restaurant on pre-order basis. Orders can be placed online at  www.thaligai.com till Oct 27. Thaligai Special gift boxes in two sizes with an assortment of sweets and savouries are also available at the restaurant. Home delivery is available in Chennai. On the day of Deepavali, an Age old ritual is followed and  it has got complete set of sequential procedure to be observed through out the day.

In the Menu for lunch- vegetables, fruits, sweets, and the main Traditional dish is served in a plantain leaf. Almost 12 items are served in this part of the meal.

Mysore Pak  is  a special sweet prepared for Deepavali. Though there are many options available, it is the one that is sure to find place in the every household of Tamil Nadu.

CLOTHES :

All the members of the family look forward to have  a best dress for the festival. The shopping for this too starts early. Many go for buying material and stich it with their best suited tailors. Rest simply go for ready made clothes. Children and senior citizens have their own preferences and comfortable choices respectively. Their demands are met with shopping at a specific place of particular brand.

For the entire family KUMARAN is the one stop destination and it is popularly known as All in one family store since 1955. The next option available is NALLI

This is with regard to Famous Chennai stores. Rest all go with online giants like Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Nykaa, Myntra.

Wearing new clothes on the day of the festival is a tradition followed and enjoyed by both the elders and children. In this connection many distribute both old and new clothes to orphanages and old age homes so that the residents can also be able to adhere to the tradition of wearing new clothes.

CRACKERS:

Deepavali is synonymous with crackers and they are the star attraction of the festival. Many are opting of it  these days and a few switched to green ones. Unlike traditional crackers, green crackers do not contain harmful chemicals such as aluminium, barium, potassium nitrate or carbon. According to some reports, green crackers emit 30% less pollutants than regular crackers. Moreover, these crackers also make less noise, showing a drop to 110 decibels from 160 decibels.

Even the manufactures of crackers in Tamil Nadu are also contributing their bit for the better environment. In this regard  over 380 factories attached to the most-influential Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers Association (TANFAMA) have tied-up with the NEERI for manufacturing less-emission crackers.

More over for the convenience of the customer to differentiate the cracker a green logo as well as a QR coding system has been developed. This hugely highlights in picking up these eco-friendly fire-crackers from conventional crackers.

Every house hold enjoys the festival without causing harm to the environment. For the sake of under privileged children CRACKER SHOWS / FIRE WORKS SESSION are arranged in many parts of Chennai. It is held in a wide open place where children with excitement watch  from a   safe distance  as a professional will light  up the sky with a display of crackers and rockets.

SIVAKASI crackers are the most famous, renowned and original crackers for the best enjoyment in the festival. This place is well known for cracker manufacturers in Tamil Nadu.

Have a Great time this festive season. Enjoy the festival to the fullest and try to share a little.

HAPPY DEEPAVALI

  10. Diwali is my fav festival as I have many beautiful childhood memories associated with it. Your write up reminded me of the good old days Anuradha when the festival was just about eating sweets and savouries, lighting up the house, singing n dancing, wearing nice clothes, bursting crackers and giving hampers to friends, relatives and neighbours. These days there is more responsibility and work involved too😄
