PENCIL - A WONDERFUL WRITING TOOL

National pencil day is observed on March 30th Every Year.

Apart from slate pencil, in my school days this is the writing tool for which I longed to buy a full pack of it and love to sharp it quickly with sharperners and blades to make a clear drawing. Having  a big pencil in the hands was an event of great pride, but it takes no less time to make it small by simply sharping it for no reason.

Colour pencils brought in  real rainbow in the lives of school going children. The joy of giving wonderful colours to the pictures on the note book and getting  a star for it from the teacher is no less than a great achievement award.

NATRAJ PENCILS was the only brand available in our town, if some body gets a pencil different from this , brought by their families from other places, He/She is the star of the class. The pencils with rubbers/erasers on the bottom was the next level, then came pencils with caps and pencils above the normal length. Then slowly these were replaced by pens and these fond memories of pencil remain with me. Just take  a look at few important points about this day:

 * The modern pencil was invented in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte, a scientist serving in the army of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Each year, March 30th National Pencil Day honors the writing utensil that has done more than just teach millions the alphabet and draw straight lines. It's also helped win wars and enabled amazing art.

National Pencil Day is here to remind us just how amazing a stick of graphite encased in a tube of wood can be. Sketching in pencil is an incredibly expressive, therapeutic and fun activity.

Do share it in comments your memories of pencils you had in your school days
