On the Day twelve of the campaign #WRITE A PAGE A DAY,
Chozhi -Aattam an ancient game which is played in the house holds of Tamil Nadu
will be presented in detail.
At first basic requirements of the game:
Number of persons: Minimum 2 and Maximum 5
Preferred age group: Above the age of 10

Best time to play:
Any time

How to play: The play begins after the toss and the one who wins, should play first. For this play toss is also done using the chozhi, one player will hold chozhis in his closed palm and the other should guess about the number of chozhis in his palm. If he says the correct number, he won the toss.
The
first player has to place the chozhis on the floor by rotating his palm anti-clock
wise. In those if 3 chozhis fall upside
down then he is out. If all the 4 chozhis fall upside down his marks are
doubled (4X2=8). If 2 chozhis fall upside down he should not touch them and
should strike the rest two with one another. (1X1=2). If 1 chozhi falls upside
down then the next player will direct you to strike which chozhi with which
one. The player should complete the task successfully so as to gain (2X1 =2)
marks otherwise he is out. If all chozhis fell normal he has to do as directed
by the next player. Every strike gets 1 mark.
Reference to this game: This game is enjoyed by children as well as by adults in the villages. Many carry chozhis in their pocket and they will start to play as and when they find a friend. Till to date we can find people playing this game on the thinnai’s of temple tank, irrigation well, bank of the lake and bus stop. Children are taught this game in their schools itself in villages. Many short stories refer this game as a great pass time of mid-afternoons and also while taking break from the farming activities. Both ladies and gents happily participate in this game and many have won accolades as masters of this game.
