28 INTERESTING GAMES TO PLAY AT HOME-GAME-10

 GAME 10

On the Tenth Day of the campaign #WriteAPageADay, NAALU KAMBAM VELLAYATU an ancient game merrily played by children will be presented in detail. It is a highly popular and widely played game in houses, marriage halls and temples where many pillars are there to hold on.

At first basic requirements of the game:

Number of persons:  5

Preferred age group: Above the age of 10

Duration of the play: Minimum half an hour

Best time to play: Any time

Place to play: where you have four pillars in a house.

How to play:  First toss is done with “sha boo three’’ or “inki pinki ponki and the one who is out is to stand in the middle of the “Naalu kambam”.

Other four players will occupy one kambam each and the game begins. The players should move from one kambam to the other without losing touch with the occupied kambam. In between the move the catcher should touch him/her when he loses hold on the kambam.

Actually the move happens when the player with one hand holds the occupied kambam and with the other hand he/she holds the hand of the other player in the next kambam and they jointly should move and exchange their kambam. In this transit time the catcher will be keen to touch a player when he/she loses the occupied kambam. If he /she is successful in touching the player during movement he/she will be out and will become the catcher standing in the centre of the “Naalu kambam”

The movement can be either clockwise or anti clockwise within the Naalu kambam. But the main condition is to keep moving and a round gets complete when all the four players touch all the “Naaaalu kambam”

Reference to this game:  This game can be found playing in ancient house- holds of Tamil Nadu where houses are designed with many pillars. Especially halls have four pillars at least in the middle.
