LET LOVE TAKE OVER is Tomson’s third book after Alumni of the year and stories of work, Life and the Balance in Between. He is a storyteller and inspires people through his writings. The concept of story -telling is well placed in this book and it is more appropriately handled at many points. The Influence of stories in Joshua’s life is the major focus in this book.
The protagonist is presented before the readers as a mediocre student then a PPT story teller. The support of grandparents and growing up in a joint family provides a healthy childhood and growth to the child. This is smoothly said in this book. Role of grandapa (Grandfather) in the life of Joshua –the protagonist is well crafted. Joshua finds a friend in his Grandfather who always motivates him to focus on his strength. He encourages him to follow his passion and to become a writer. The first proof of it comes as a graphic story board which Joshua creates in a competition. At many stages in his life Joshua remembers his grandfather’s words .The Story -telling and board games are often highlighted in the story. As moral values can be inculcated and Confidence can be instilled through story- telling, it is insisted wisely through -out the book. Spending quality time with family, by way of board games and tea time is included as a routine of the family in the book.
Author with simple words and many characters successfully launched a
story of love, values, family, job and covid 19. The book has 176 pages divided
into 21 chapters. Each chapter has a title enveloping the content inside along
with place and year of the incident. Apart from Joshua and Susan there are
approximately 30 characters stepping in at the right time to enhance the
quality of the plot.
Like a Hindi proverb "dil ka raasta pet se hokar jaata hai," Author tried to catch the readers attention through Food. There are umpteen number of incidences where Joshua is described as a Foodie and taken enough care to brief about bohari styled cooking, Egyptian dessert, Kerala parotta, noodles, fried fish curry, Kerala Sadya, Malaysia’s Jalan Alor, DBC, ice creams etc.
The Author successfully brings in the Title and the theme of the book at
page 148, I quote “Come soon”, She said. And that is all I needed to hear. I
was not there for her the first time, however this time I am going to stand by
her. This time, I will let love take over.
The book LET LOVE TAKE OVER presents the importance of story -telling
and its various applications. It also put forth the two sides of a same coin:
David and Goliath as well as David and Bathsheba. No doubt it guides to act
only when absolutely necessary.
(Received the book from writers melon in exchange of an honest review)
