Space technology includes
space vehicles such as spacecraft, satellites, space stations, and orbital
launch vehicles; deep-space communication; in-space propulsion; and a wide
variety of other technologies including support infrastructure equipment, and
procedures.
The space industry utilizes
emerging technologies, like 5G, advanced satellite systems, 3D printing,
and quantum computing, to enhance and scale operations in space. Weather
forecasting, remote sensing, GPS navigation, satellite television, and long-distance
communication all depend on space infrastructure.
As the national space agency
of India, ISRO's purpose is the pursuit of all space-based applications such as
research, reconnaissance, and communications. It undertakes the design and
development of space rockets and satellites and explores upper atmosphere and
deep space exploration missions.
On August 23, 2023, Vikram
Lander's successful landing on the moon's south pole made India only the fourth
country to land on the Moon and the first one to do so in the Lunar South Pole
region.
To commemorate this achievement,
the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared 23rd August as the National
Space Day to recognize this achievement by the Indian Space Research
Organization (ISRO). The theme for this year's celebration is
"Touching lives while touching the moon".
This theme celebrates India's progress in
space technology and its impact on societal development, economic growth, and
international cooperation, highlighting the broader effects of space
achievements on everyday life.
The day aims to inspire people of
all ages about the wonders of space, highlight the achievements of space
exploration, and encourage interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics)
And also acknowledges India's growing role in
the global space community and aims to inspire future generations.
Celebrations include a grand
event in New Delhi, mobile exhibitions, and educational outreach programs.
ISRO's initiatives, such as the “Space Tutors” program, will also be
highlighted, showcasing the nation's growing capabilities in space science and
technology.
Finally, we need to understand and
agree that Space technology and satellites have become integral to modern-day
living, enabling innovative applications and revolutionary capabilities
across domains.
