A hobby is considered to be a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time. Hobbies include collecting themed items and objects, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, playing sports, or pursuing other amusements.

Spending time on an activity that you enjoy can improve your mental health and wellbeing. In fact, people with hobbies may be less likely to experience stress, low mood, and depression. Activities that get you out and about can make you feel happier and more relaxed.

Hobbies are known to reduce stress, enhance your mood, increase creativity, improve focus and concentration levels, bring a sense of accomplishment and enhance social connections. They also give you a sense of identity, promote self-expression and help build resilience..

“Along with socialization, hobbies can improve one's mental health and provide various cognitive benefits.” It all starts with doing something pleasurable or rewarding that triggers neurons in the brain that release the chemical dopamine.

Making a good hobby in life can be a fun and rewarding experience that adds depth and meaning to your life. To pick the right one:

 Identify your interests:

Start by thinking about what you enjoy doing in your free time.

Make a list of activities that you find engaging and fulfilling.

It enriches your life and gives you a different perspective on things. No matter what type of hobby you choose, you will definitely be exposed to new ideas. Hobbies help you grow in various ways, including exposing you to new opinions and to new ways to look at life.

It helps to relieve stress by keeping you engaged in something you enjoy. Hobbies give you a way to take your mind off the stresses of everyday life. They let you relax and seek pleasure in activities that aren't associated with work, chores or other responsibilities. Hobbies help you become more patient.

Having a hobby boosts our self-esteem, as we feel good at something, and hormones dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins, are released to make us happier. They reduce our stress, give us a sense of purpose, and give us pride. Hobbies involve a commitment to a chosen activity.

·         Hobbies such as gardening, hiking, yoga, sports or fitness can keep us active without the feeling of an obligatory trip to the gym. Turning exercise into a hobby will also have flow-on effects from increased confidence, increased energy levels and an overall increase in your physical health.

·         Regular exercise, whether it's through sports, dancing, or other active hobbies, can increase stamina and vitality. Sense of Achievement: Completing projects or achieving milestones in your hobbies provides a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. This positive feedback can lead to increased energy and motivation.

Think about joining a fun dance class or rock-climbing lesson. Or try something low-impact and stress-busting at the same time: learn tai chi, pick up yoga, qi gong, walk with a friend. Physical activity aside, you can still enjoy better mental health by engaging in hobbies that will challenge you intellectually.

Thus hobbies provide us with a much-needed escape from the daily grind, allowing us to explore our passions, learn new skills, and unwind. We define the things we enjoy doing as hobbies, right?  Do choose the right one for you and experience the high energy levels.
