Our home provides us with a sense of
protection and shelter from the outside world. We can be ourselves and let our guard down in the
comfort of our homes. The feeling of safety and security that home provides is
essential to our mental and emotional well-being. "A home is also a place
of belonging.
Maintaining a home is not an
easy task and demands time and talent. Then
term HOME MAKING is mainly an American
and Canadian term for the management of a home, otherwise known as housework, housekeeping,
housewifery or household management. It is the act of overseeing the organizational, day-to-day operations of
a house or estate, and the managing of other domestic concerns.
These include a multitude of
household chores, such as cleaning, cooking, and doing laundry. Additionally, homemakers often have other responsibilities, such as
supervising pets, driving clients to doctors' appointments, running errands,
and overseeing property maintenance.
In those days women are designated to carry
out this task. Because of which she is called a Home maker. This has been the traditional
job of a woman to be a homemaker, a woman who spends most of her time caring for the family home has been
called a "housewife". Many women still use this word on government
forms, because they see the value in homemaking.
The role of the homemaker
carries with it a special womanly dignity. It makes the wife the queen of her little kingdom, her
home. It gives her responsibility
to care for her family: feeding them, clothing them, keeping the house neat and
clean, and making their home a haven.
Homemakers create stability by
being present in the family home and keeping that home organized and running
smoothly. A stable family is a
requirement for children to feel safety and security. A welcoming and loving
family helps a child feel that he belongs and has value as a person.
Thus home making by homemakers
turns a house into a home -a lovable place for all the members of the family. Acknowledge and assists whenever possible.
