Near Dharamshala, the most popular
trek is the beginner-friendly Triund Trek (short, great views), while
more challenging options include the scenic Kareri Lake Trek (3 days,
glacial lake) and the strenuous Indrahar Pass Trek (4 days,
experienced trekkers) for stunning Dhauladhar range vistas, with operators
offering packages including guides and stays.
Triund Trek
It lies near Dharamshala and is located at an altitude of around 2850 m. This
trek provides majestic views of the hills all around. One gets mesmerised by
its heights and the sceneries it provides. Weather at Triund is pleasant in the
summer months.
The cost of trekking in
Dharamshala ranges from INR 6,500 to INR 15,100 per person for a
duration of 3 to 8 days. It includes your accommodations in homestays and
tents, meals and snacks, trekking permits, and local transfers.
Trekking is much more than reaching a summit or clicking a photograph at the top. It quietly mirrors life, teaching lessons that stay with you long after the trail ends.
1. One step at a time matters
On a steep trail, you can’t rush. You focus on the next step, then the next.
Life works the same way—big goals are achieved through small, consistent
efforts, not sudden leaps.
2. Patience is strength
Trekking tests your patience: slow walkers, changing weather, unexpected
delays. You learn that impatience only drains energy, while calm acceptance
helps you move forward steadily.
3. Preparation decides progress
A good trek needs planning—right shoes, water, food, and maps. In life too, preparation
doesn’t guarantee success, but lack of it almost guarantees struggle.
4. Comfort zones limit growth
Blisters, tired legs, thin air—trekking pushes you beyond comfort. You realize
growth begins where ease ends, and discomfort often carries the seed of
confidence.
5. Nature teaches humility
Mountains don’t care about your status or plans. This humbling experience
reminds you that life is bigger than individual worries, and surrendering
control can bring peace.
6. Teamwork lightens the load
Sharing water, encouraging a tired companion, or waiting for someone behind
shows how support makes hard journeys manageable. Life, too, becomes lighter
when we walk together.
7. Silence heals
Away from noise, the mind settles. Trekking teaches the value of silence and
reflection—something we often forget in our busy lives.
8. The journey is the reward
The summit is joyful, but the real learning happens on the path. Similarly,
life isn’t only about achievements; it’s about who we become while striving.
In the end, trekking gently reminds us: move steadily, stay humble, trust the path, and enjoy the walk—life unfolds much the same way.
Here are the experiences shared by my cousin:
Himalayas trek - camping at Triund at 9000 feet. 9km to the top and back, another route 8km. Honoured to watch the mountains, sunset, night sky with shooting stars and milky way, 7 sisters star cluster, moon rise at 4am, sunrise at 720 am
