December has always been a special
month for me. It arrives with a unique blend of emotions — a beautiful mixture
of birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and family celebrations. It is festive,
reflective, and filled with gentle reminders that another year is coming to an
end.
Every December, I find myself
rushing through my pending tasks, trying to complete as much as possible before the year comes to a close. There’s something satisfying about
wrapping up old commitments before stepping into a fresh year. Buying and gift wrapping the Christmas gifts is major fun in December. Will start doing it earlier or in the first week of this month so as to avoid delays through the postal service or couriers.
Alongside this, I love the
excitement of planning for the year ahead. My shopping lists begin to grow —
things for the harvest festival, household essentials, rice lights for that
warm glow, greeting cards, calendars, and diaries to send as thoughtful gifts.
This is also the time when decluttering becomes my quiet ritual. Clothes we no
longer wear, broken and unused items… everything is sorted, discarded, or
donated. Clearing the physical space always feels like clearing mental space
too.
Yet above everything else, there
is one thing I eagerly wait for — the delicate flower called December,
available only in this season. Its soft beauty and gentle fragrance feel like
nature’s own celebration. Wearing it makes the month feel even more special.
For me, December is not just the
end of a year.
It is warmth, gratitude, preparation, and the promise of new beginnings — all
wrapped into one.
