9 STEPS TO PREPARE YUMMY YAM AND BROWN PEA SAMBHAR

 


Proteins is an essential macronutrient and eating legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains and other plant-based sources of protein is a win for your health and the planet's health.

Including legumes in the cooking is an easy option to increase protein intake through diet. Here is a quick recipe which has brown peas as one of the ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:

Elephant yam

Toor dal

Chana dal

Brown peas

peanut

Tamarind

Red chilli powder

oil

Mustard seeds

Coriander leaves

Curry leaves

Asafoetida

PREPARATION

Soak brown peas and peanuts overnight

Cut elephant yam into pieces and cook it in a pressure cooker along with Toor dal, chana dal, brown peas, peanuts and Asafoetida

Soak the tamarind and extract the juice. Bring to a boil, then add the cooked mixture and mix well. Let it simmer.

Add salt. Place a kadai, pour oil and when it fumes, add red chilli powder and fry till golden brown.

Add it to the simmering mixture and mix well. The dish is ready

Again place the kadai, pour oil and add mustard seeds.

Add it to the prepared dish.

Finally, add chopped coriander and curry leaves to the dish.

Serve hot "yam and brown pea sambhar" with rice, ghee and a curry.

 

As a side dish here is a recipe of HOT AND SWEET BEETROOT CURRY

 


 

Beetroot as the name suggests is a sweet vegetable. With it dishes like juice and halwa are famous and enjoyed by all rather than a dal. The colour of the vegetable is quite attractive and it has a special place in the hearts of the children. Here is a recipe of beetroot curry which can be prepared in a short time.

INGREDIENTS:

Beet root

Salt

Red chillies

Red chilli powder

Mustard seeds

Oil

Urad dal

Channa dal

Turmeric powder

Cumin

PREPARATION:

Select beetroots, peel and wash well

Grate beetroots

Take a kadai. Pour oil, add mustard seeds when they crackle add urad dal, channa dal, red chillies and cumin. Fry till golden brown.

Then add the grated beetroots, salt, turmeric powder, and red chilli powder.

Mix well and allow it to fry for 10 minutes.

It's ready to serve along with rice or chapatis.
