The Divya kshetram TIRUTTANKAA (TOOPPUL) is located in the temple town of Kanchipuram. The presiding deity is Deepaprakasar, also known as Vilakkoli Perumal, in the standing posture. The Goddess is Maragathavalli. The sacred water is Saraswathi theertham, and the sanctum sanctorum is Sreekara Vimanam.
The Legend is that the demon in an attempt to disturb the yagna conducted by Brahma darkened the world. Responding to Brahma's prayers Lord Vishnu is said to have manifested Himself as bright light to enable the Yagna to be continued unimpeded. Hence the deity is called Deepaprakasar.
This is the Avatara sthala (Birthplace) of Swami Vedantha Desikar and there is a shrine of Desikar with Lakshmi Hayagrivar.
Vaikunta Ekadasi is celebrated in this Kshetram.
