The Beating Retreat ceremony is a colourful and musical event that showcases the military bands' skills and pays tribute to the nation's defence forces. The ceremony typically includes performances of martial music, patriotic songs, and traditional Indian tunes.

Watched this - Beating the retreat today evening in the DD NATIONAL CHANNEL. It was grand as usual. The fog was taking fully control of the area as the program is about to end.

The lights were switched on at 6pm and it illuminated the entire area and it was an adorable sight to witness the Vijay chowk and Raisina hill with full of lights resembling Tricolour.

The commentators explained the significance of light over darkness, how it erases ignorance spreading its vast beam of rays everywhere.

Listening to songs like MERE WATSN KE LOGO -  here

And  SARE JAHAN SE ACHA -

And finally National anthem - all played by  the military band

The tunes and the steps in accordance with each other makes the parade the one which we long for years to witness in LIVE.

But all these years DD channel is helping people to have the pleasure and pride in watching their Nation celebrating its Republic day.

The Beating Retreat ceremony is a significant event that marks the culmination of the Republic Day celebrations. It takes place on the evening of January 29, three days after Republic Day.

Beating Retreat ceremony that marks the end of Republic Day celebrations at Vijay Chowk in the National capital – New Delhi, on Monday evening witnessed all Indian tunes, beginning with the 'shankhnaad' tune similar to blowing a conch.

The ceremony is a display of military pageantry and musical prowess. It includes the massed bands of the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force) along with pipes and drums bands from the Army, Air Force, and the Central Armed Police Forces.

The 'Beating Retreat' ceremony, with its origins dating back to the early 1950s, pays homage to a centuries-old military tradition. Major Roberts of the Indian Army developed the unique ceremony, symbolizing the end of hostilities as troops withdrew from the battlefield at sunset, sheathing their arms.

The event is a constant reminder of the selfless deeds of all martyrs of the Country, who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle and various succeeding wars against foreign aggression.

Do offer salutes to them and be grateful for their sacrifices. JAI HIND!
