THE ART OF GIFTING

Considering the festive season with the festivals like Onam  and Raksha Bandhan to follow next week, the art of gifting finds a lot more reason rather than usual days. Today here in South India Varalakshmi vratham is being celebrated where after completion of the pooja to the Goddess MahaLaxmi, women exchange gifts with other female member of the family, friends, relatives, neighbours and maids.

Gifts given on these occasions signify respect, love and appreciation for family members, friends, colleagues or anyone else who is celebrated at that particular festival. In India, gift-giving has its own symbolism depending upon the cultural background and social norms of different states.
In India, gift-giving is a tradition during festive occasions and other celebrations.  sweets and flowers are considered to be excellent traditional gifts.
The true art of present giving goes well beyond the simple act of exchanging physical objects with another person, it is the chance to speak to them and convey your thoughts through the gift that you are giving.
The custom of giving gifts is as popular in modern India as it is the world over. Gifts are not usually given in a business context. Gifts are appropriate, however, if you are invited to visit an Indian at his/her home. Gifts wrapped in colours that are considered auspicious such as green, red or yellow.
While the act of giving is primarily focused on the recipient, research has shown that it also brings significant psychological benefits to the giver. The act of giving gifts activates the brain's reward center, triggering the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and happiness.
We need to teach them that when we give wholeheartedly without expecting anything in return, we will experience faithful Joy and happiness that will not only last a lot longer but will fill us with true happiness; hence it is rightly called 'the Joy of Giving. '
Experience the joy of Giving and be happy.
