WHAT IS NON -FICTIONAL PROSE?

Non fictional prose refers to any work of literature that is based mainly on facts but they may contain fictional elements. Essays and biographies are examples of non fictional prose.

Nonfictional prose genres have flourished in nearly all countries with advanced literatures. The genres include political and polemical writings, biographical and autobiographical literature, religious writings, and philosophical, and moral or religious writings.
As used in a broad sense, the term non-fictional prose literature. here designates writing intended to instruct (but does not include highly scientific. and erudite writings in which no aesthetic concern is evinced), to persuade, to. convert, or to convey experience or reality through - factual or spiritual revelation.
Types of Nonfictional prose
  • Biographies.
  • Autobiographies and memoirs.
  • Essays.
  • Journalism.

The main aim of non-fiction literature is to educate readers. If we think about essays from this point of view, we will notice that they do serve this goal, so they are a kind of nonfiction.
While the purpose of nonfiction is largely dependent on the individual author, simply based on the style of writing, nonfiction is written to inform. Information can be written with the core purpose of informing, or it can be written with the core purpose of expressing. Either way, nonfiction informs readers.
Reading a dense piece of nonfiction stimulates different sections of our brain than reading an easier book. The study concluded that close reading to understand a text's message ultimately does have a more beneficial impact on the brain. But make no mistake, reading for pleasure is working your brain muscles too.
Reading nonfiction is a workout for your brain that not only improves memory and analytical skills, but might help stave off degenerative neurological disorders.
