HOW TO WRITE BOOK REVIEWS IN A PERFECTLY PROFESSIONAL STYLE?

A book review is a form of literary criticism in which a book is merely described (summary review) or analyzed based on content, style, and merit. A book review may be a primary source, opinion piece, summary review or scholarly review.

A book reviewer is a professional in the publishing industry who evaluates books on their quality and writes about their reading experiences.

Book reviews can be brief or long. They can critique and/or summarize the book. They can be written by readers or professional book reviewers. Reader reviews tend to be more personal, focusing on the individual reader's experience while reading the book.

In Journalism A book review is a thorough description, critical analysis, and/or evaluation of the quality, meaning, and significance of a book, often written in relation to prior research on the topic.

A book review is a descriptive and critical/evaluative account of a book. It provides a summary of the content, assesses the value of the book, and recommends it (or not) to other potential readers.

There are two general approaches to reviewing a book:

1.    Descriptive review: Presents the content and structure of a book as objectively as possible, describing essential information about a book's purpose and authority. This is done by stating the perceived aims and purposes of the study, often incorporating passages quoted from the text that highlight key elements of the work. Additionally, there may be some indication of the reading level and anticipated audience.

2.    Critical review: Describes and evaluates the book in relation to accepted literary and historical standards and supports this evaluation with evidence from the text and, in most cases, in contrast to and in comparison with the research of others. It should include a statement about what the author has tried to do, evaluates how well you believe the author has succeeded in meeting the objectives of the study, and presents evidence to support this assessment. To give a professional touch to your writing style write this type of review.

Writing a book review is a chance to examine literature and digest it in a more complex way than simply following the story and understanding its plot. Here is how to do list.

·        Compile a list of questions to help readers think critically about the book they're reading and       draw conclusions based on both facts and feelings.

·         While you should absolutely weave your own personal take of a book into the review, your evaluation shouldn't only be based on your subjective opinion.

·         When there's so much riding on reviews, you should always try to write the best, most helpful review you can. Even if you didn't like the book, you can still help the author by giving an honest, constructive review that doesn't have to hurt their feelings.

·        Before you begin writing, make a few notes about the points you want to get across. Try to get the main theme of the book across in the beginning of your review. Your reader should know right away what he or she is getting into should they choose to read the book.

·        Book reviews are an Indispensable Resource for the Reader. Not only do reviews give them the lowdown of the story, genre and tone of the book, they also get a valuable impression of its quality.
