A GLORIOUS TEMPLE WHERE GODDESS FED UPAMANYU

    




 The divya kshetram TIRUVANPURUSHOTTAMAM is located in Tirunangur 8 kms from Sirkazhi in Tamil Nadu.  The presiding deity is Purushothaman in standing posture. The  Goddess is Purushothama Nayaki enshrined in a separate sanctum.

The sacred water is Tirupparkadal theertham and the sanctum sanctorum is sanjeevivigraha vimanam. The legend is that upamanyu, son of Vyagrapada, as an infant was crying out of hunger and was fed with milk by purushothama Nayaki. The temple is also one of the 11 Divya desams of Tirumangai Azhwar - one of  the saint devotee of Lord Vishnu.
