AN ANCIENT TEMPLE NEAR THE RAMESWARAM SEA SHORE

The Divya kshetram TIRUPULLANI is located close to Rameswaram  on the sea shore in TamilNadu. The presiding deity is kalyana Jagannathar also called Dharbasayana Rama and the Goddess is Kalyanavalli. The sacred water is Chakra Theertham and the sanctum sanctorum is kalyana vimanam.

Legend has it that Lord Rama took rest on a bed of grass, awaiting Samudra Raja to make way for the construction of  abridge to retrieve Sita from Lanka. It is also believed that Lord Rama presented Himself under the Ashwaatha tree to Pulva Maharishi. Hence this place is called Pullaranya.
