A prefix is an affix placed before the root of a word. It is also called a pre formative because it alters the form of the words to which is is affixed. All prefixes are derivational and do not change the lexical category of the base. Prefixing is one of the important English word- formation process.

happy - un happy
Polite - impolite
Honest - dishonest
Complete - incomplete
View - Preview, review
Do - Undo, redo
