FIVE THINGS TO CHECK BEFORE YOU SEND OFF YOUR PITCH

 1. Have you pitched to the right person? Try to copy at least two relevant editors to increase the chances of your pitch being seen.

2. Is your opening punchy and attention- grabbing? And does the rest of your pitch tell your editor concisely why he or she should buy your story?

3. Do you have a hook or  a peg? Check if there have been any recent developments that you can use to update your story.

4. Does your tone and language match the magazine you are pitching to, and showcase your style?

5. Is your pitch free of grammar and spelling errors, and are all the web links you include working?
