6 TOP MOST TEMPLES IN AND AROUND THE CITY OF TRICHY IN TAMILNADU



 Tiruchirappalli or Trichy is in the heart of Tamil Nadu. There are many temples of historical importance, people  used to visit these temples and receive the blessings of the God.

Rock fort temple: The temple built by Chola, the Pallava and the Nayak kings are very famous even today. Rock Fort stands first to welcome those come to Trichy. It is of the same elegance even today adding more beauty to the city. So it sis very apt to call Trichy as Rock Fort city.  The temple is at 5 Kms from Central bus station. One can have bus transport from central bus station going via Chathiram bus stand and Srirangam.

To reach the Pillaiyar (Ganesh) temple, one has to step up 418 steps as the temple is on the hillock of Rock fort. At the foot of Rock Fort, Manickavinayakar shrine, in the middle, Thayumanauar shrine and at the hillock Ganesh shrine are there. It is at 5 Kms from central bus station. Girivalam is performed on every full moon day with every deity.

Srirangam : Here is the famous Ranganathar temple which is one of the 108 Vaishnava temples and is called Earthy Heaven.  Though celebrations are on through out the year, the Ekadashi which falls in Marghazi (Tamil month) is very famous and notable.

Samayapuram :  Samayapuram Mariamman temple is at 18kms from Trichy. The chariot festival in the month of Chithirai (April) and the floral festival on the last Sunday of Masi (February) are significant on the new moon days. The devotees from all over Tamil Nadu come and stay, and on the next day they perform their rituals to the deity.

Puliyancholai : It is in Trichy district. It includes Kolei hill and Pachai hill and suitable for touring in summer. It is one of the best suitable for touring in summer. it is one of the best suitable tourist spots. It is at 32 Kms from Thuraiyur. Bus transport is available from Thuraiyur for every one hour between 6.00am to 9.30pm.

Thiruvanaikovil : The Jumbukeswarar -Akilandeswari temple , being a water temple is one of the five temples of Lord Shiva. It is at 2 Kms from Srirangam. The structure and the beautiful sculptural panel speaks of its architectural excellence. Huge crowd gathers every Friday of Aadi month (July) to worship Goddess Akilandeswari. Historical evidences say taht the elephant face Lord Ganesha and  Goddess Parvathi performed pooja for Shiva Lingam (Lord Shiva). It is noteworthy that Lord Jambukeswarar (Lingam) is placed on water.

Woraiyur Vellaliamman temple : It is on the west of Woraiyur. No roof at where presiding deity Goddess Vekkaliamman idol is placed. Goddess blesses the devotees bearing hot sun and rain. Here is a belief that the request of the devotees, being written on a white sheet of paper and placed here are fulfilled. The temple is at 5 Kms from central bus station.
