Written in a traditional comic format "Blurry the Explorer" was very close to Anne Frank's heart as she was extremely proud of it and was fond of reading it aloud several times. Blurry is the name of a little bear who wanted to go out and explore the big wide world. The bear having ventured out of home to discover the world is startled, once he was on the streets. the legs of the tall people frightened him. But he consoled himself thinking that he would also grow tall after drinking milk.
Blurry who wanted to explore the world, had many adventurous experiences- some good, some bad and some scary. He met a lonely Angora cat, Mirwa, who offered him food, shelter and a good cleaning. He almost found himself in the mouth of a monster which grabbed him by neck and dragged him down the street. Blurry had dozed off but was saved when the huge animal dropped him. The encounter with a little girl was pleasant as she took care of him and cleaned his wounds. He had a nice break after which he decided to venture out again.
While searching for food, two girls pursue him, capture him and use him to do their chores. The poor little bear who came out to discover the world soon finds himself sweeping for long and exhausting hours and is remorseful regarding the easy life he had with his mistress. After a week, a notice features in the newspaper announcing a reward for the safe return of a little bear bear named Blurry. The two girls restore Blurry to his little mistress and collect their reward. Blurry who confronts many challenges on his way to discover the world, eventually says that he has not exactly discovered the world but only experienced it. By turns interesting, touching, hilarious, and heart breaking this story reveals the astonishing range of Anne Frank's wisdom and imagination as well as her indomitable love of life.
