1. Most modern aircraft, whether military or civilian, carry flight data recorder, often known as a "Black box".
2. The box records data from the main operating systems of the aircraft, and tapes conversations inside the flight deck.
3. Data is stored on magnetic tape inside a strong titanium case, which protects it from impact and fire damage.
