4 POINTS ON METAMORPHOSIS

1. Most  invertebrates, as well as many fish and amphibians, start life as larvae .

2. These look unlike their parents, often live in different habitats, and eat different food. They then undergo a total change of body form and appearance, called complete metamorphosis.

3. A gradual change in body shape, called incomplete metamorphosis, occurs in many insects.

 4. These hatch into miniature but immature versions of their parents, and progress through a series of moults to adulthood.
