SIX POINTS ON MALGUDI

*Malgudi is a fictional description of a place discovered by R.K.Narayan for his novels.

* Malgudi has been partly crafted out of Geography and partly crafted out of Narayan’s imagination

*Wessex is to Thomas Hardy what Malgudi is to Narayan & yoknapatawpha to William Faulkner.

*Malgudi is really the middle class world of the small town. Malgudi is located on the banks of the river sarayu. Mempi forest is on the other side of sarayu.

*Malgudi is a bit modern place with Albert Mission college, the Co-operative Bank, The Railways, The Lawley Road, Kabir street, Bombay Anand Bhavan and Truth printing works.

* Malgudi is the favoured backdrop  of Narayan’s novels and his uncanny ability to carve this one inch of ivory to perfection certainly deserves kudos.
