traveller’s companion. The contents includes an introduction to the North East
with specifications to Entry formalities, inner line permits &Do’s
&Don’ts for the tourist & other
8 chapters covers in detail the 8 North Eastern states with beautiful pictures.
The first chapter welcomes us to
Arunachal Pradesh – Mysterious Magical Mystical. Along with a map, Fairs &Festivals,
Recommended Tourist circuits, Traditional crafts &Takstang monastery
significance is highlighted with information given in a table. At the end of
each chapter the requirements like accommodation, transportation are given
along with phone numbers and room rent.
The second chapter- Assam-Home of
Brahmaputra features a photograph of an aerial view of the region. special
section about best season to visit the place finds place. Muga silk, mats, tea
picker, temples, river cruise, national parks, adventure sports are the main
attractions of this place &these are well explained.
The third chapter Manipur- graceful
contours focuses about capital IMPHAL & covers major excursions of the
spot. Ras Leela, the classical dance &other dances of these region are
highlighted. Details of popular shopping outlets, games & martial arts were
given.
The fourth chapter Meghalaya- many
hues of nature draws attention towards Spread Eagle falls, Umiam lake, caves, wild

instruments &the stunning Dzukou valley. The photographs are so eye catching
& compels to witness the beauty in person. Naga shawls, the tribal
instruments & Horn bill festival are
the major cover of this chapter.
The seventh chapter Sikkim-just
heaven starts with snow view of the region. Lamas, Namgyal Institute of
Tibetology, Tsomgo lake, Enchey monastery, masked dancers, wall paintings &
ornaments with dragon motifs are famous. Trekking, water sports, Heli-tours are
unique to this place.
The eighth chapter Tripura- cultural
synthesis is truly a place of tranquillity. Neermahal, bamboo forest, wood

treat to eyes.
