Tenali a small village in the
Andhrapradesh was under the province of Vijayanagar, then ruled by the king
Krishnadevaraya. Krishnadevaraya had eight exponents as well as scholar in his
court. One of them is Tenali Ramakrishna. His actual name is Ramakrishna, but
he is popularly known as Tenali Ramakrishna. That too with the blessings of
Goddess Kali, his journey to fame and fortune began.
Tenali Ramakrishna is well known for
his wit and humour. He is capable of solving any problem and he too will come
out of any complicated situations with his power of cleverness and
intelligence.
Tenali rama’s experiences are
presented in the of tales for the children to learn many life lessons. There
are many books on this topic where authors have tried their best to bring out
the teachings of Tenalirama to the wider world.
Tenalirama is a jester in the court
of Sri Krisnhadevaraya, as Birbal in the court of king Akbar. Tenalirama had
struggled a lot to find a place in the Sri krishnadevaraya’s court. He was made
to under gone many test to prove his mettle.
From the childhood, though Rama is a clever boy, but was also very lazy.
The way Rama matures and understands the nuances of life, is well narrated in
the tale RAMA AND THE GODDESS KALI. All
his efforts to win the king’s heart and acquire a stable job in the king’s
court is quite clearly shared in the tale “RAMA JOINS THE KING”S COURT.
Rama’s competition with Rajguru
Thathachariar, a senior scholar is a lesson for many. Rama settling all his
debts and how he manages to save his wealth is a story with a lot of twist
&turns. Rama’s special quality is his loyalty &honesty towards his king
&his kingdom, this is truly captured in the tale RAMA EXPOSES THE GREEDY
SOLDIERS.
Rama’s intellect was beyond
comparison and he was superior to other courtiers too, but often many try to
humiliate him in the presences of others in a silly way, but will find an
answer to stop them. He never left his courage &boldness. These are the few
lessons Tenali Rama has left for the world because of which he is remembered in
the history even today.
Many tales like RAMA THE WRESTLING
CHAMPION, ARTIST IN RAMA, RAMA THE SCHOLAR, RAMA’S THIN BUT STRONG COLT are the
ones which brings forth the various facets of Rama. RAMA ANNOYS THE KING, is a
tale which results due to his funny tales &clownish acts, but the tale too
concludes happily with his same clownish act. It will definitely be a good read
for children and teaches not to get serious over any issue.
Like these there are many tales
teaching us many morals and ethics which are must for the humankind. Encourage
children to read books and value the historical writings.
