Flower
arrangement is an art which demands more creativity. Variety can be added at any point to enhance
its beauty & to make it a center of attraction.Different types of flower arrangements are:
Traditional
or Mass; It is a formal arrangement. All types of flowers in different colours
and sizes are used together for arranging in a suitable container. It presents
a multi coloured mass effect.
Oriental or
Japanese: This type of arrangement is also famously known as EKBANA, it is
mainly done by Japanese. It gives impression of a naturally growing plant, the
arrangement is simple and at a time it must be attractive in appearance. The
flowers must be chosen in odd number. The three main branches of this
arrangement is symbolic of heaven, man and earth. The main branch which is
largest &upwards signifies heaven, this stem should be one and half inches
longer than the vase and the smallest branch should be one third of the vase
and it should point downwards representing earth, while sideway symbolises man
and it should be of same height of the vase. If more than three stems are used,
they should be cleverly arranged so as to give the impression as three. Any
number of flowers can be used but proper balance should be provided for the
arrangement. Odd number of flowers are generally used like 3,5, 7,9,&11.
Modern Arrangement: Modern arrangement is done mostly using other articles with
plant material. Artificial flowers &fruits are also used. But materials for
this arrangement should be of excellent in quality. This type of arrangement is
a combination of the traditional and oriental styles.
Floating
arrangement is done using flowers with weak stems or short stems. Flowers are
arranged in a floating manner so as to give the effect of flowers floating in a
pond or tank. They can give great deal of pleasure when they are floating,
flowers can be arranged in a shallow bowls .The flowers must not completely
cover up the water. Flowers of different colours may be used in this type of
arrangement.
Dry arrangement
is done with dry plant material, dried seeds, dried foliage, dried berries .For
this arrangement wooden vases are suitable.
Miniature
arrangement is like a miniature painting which requires perfection
&meticulous work. The main emphasis in this arrangement lies on the scale.
Diminutive
arrangement is used on the dining table, or on small tables or in children play
houses. Wooden containers or bowls are suitable for fruit or vegetable
arrangement.
Line
arrangement is the one in which the element of line is given first importance.
A favourite line arrangement consists of 3 sprays of different lines that go in
the same direction indicating a triangle.
Mass
arrangement has a larger amount of plant material. The grouping as a whole and
the colours are more important than the line.
Line and
Mass arrangement combines the best features of the line and mass. The mass is
important than the line element even though it provides the focal point.
