HE STANDS
ALONE
He’s a
soldier
So brave and
strong
Mission after
mission
Never gone too
long
A gun, a
knife, a tank
A weapon not
his choice
A war started
long ago
His goal to
raise his voice
The enemy is
armed
In
unforgiving ways
Children,
women. Bodies
Scrupulous
displays
Head games.
Body aches
Home so far
from her
Reality is
insanity
No time to
fear
Nightmares
are visions
And soon they
will be gone
War will be
over
Clouds
convert to sun
Stand tall
don’t break
Fight until
the last
Souls like
iron
Faces hidden
in masks
Voiceless
corpses heaved
Buried and
burned soldier keeps walking
Eyes absorb
but his back is turned
Kill or be
killed
Wars awful
plan
No tears to
shed
From this
young man

Soldiers have one job: to protect
their country. However, there are many different ways to do this. If the country is
at war, many soldiers fight in combat. They use weapons and technology to help
defeat the enemy.
A
soldier’s life is patriotic, because, s/he is overwhelmed with the thought of
protecting the motherland, even at the cost of his/her own life; tough, as they
have to stay away from family and friends for months, that too in some of the
most arduous conditions; risky because they secure our borders and are under
constant threat from infiltrators and terror outfits.
Over the years, the effects of war on soldiers have been described in
varying ways, but the one consistent factor is that it creates a powerful
stress on the soldier to the extent that he becomes changed for some period of
time or permanently.
You have painted a real soldier who transforms as s/he dons his gear. Once in uniform they know only one call save the nation whatever may come. Indeed he is not alone because alone he is like thousands and a battalion of soldiers rages like millions and trillions. Well penned. They do face many PTSDs still they don't give up but fight for the cause.
