According to a survey
conducted by Rakuten Insight on pets owned in January 2022 in India, dogs were the most popular
pets, with a share of 68 percent. Cats were the second most popular pets, with a share of 34 percent.
Dogs, cats, and birds such as
canaries and parakeets are kept as household pets. Other birds, such as jays, magpies, and
members of the crow family, are kept in aviaries. When kept as pets, reptiles
and amphibians frequently require special conditions of heat and moisture.
Pets Legal in India: Which animals are allowed to be kept as pet animals? Mammals: Camels, cats, dogs,
donkeys, cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, and so on. Birds: Parrots,
chickens, ducks, geese, columbines, and many more. Fish: Goldfish, koi, guppy,

Small mammals that might be
kept as pets include: ferret, hedgehog, rabbit, sugar glider, and rodents, including rat, mouse,

tank upkeep.
Pets can help children with
their learning. Educators have long used
animals (mainly dogs) as a form of therapy in schools, using them to help
developmentally challenged kids to learn. In particular, animals can help
