INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES

"You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.” –Desmond Tutu

To appreciate and value the God's Gift  - The International Day of Families, annually held on May 15, celebrates the importance of families and the work started during the International Year of Families. International Day of Families promotes the importance of a healthy and well-balanced family.

International Family Day, also known as International Day of Families, is an annual celebration established by the United Nations General Assembly (UN-GA) in 1993. The first commemoration of the day occurred in 1994.

The theme of International Day of Families 2023 is 'Demographic Trends and Families'.

The United Nations declared that the purpose of establishing this day about families was to promote awareness of the issues that surround families, as well as to increase the knowledge of the processes that affect families, including social, demographic and economic factors.

A complete green circle with a red picture serves as the symbol for the International Day of Families. The graphic consists of pieces of simple heart and house designs. This logo shows that families are at the heart of society, providing a secure and nurturing environment for people of all ages.

The primary purpose of commemorating International Day of Families is to increase awareness of the value and importance of family. It is also critical to raise attention to the hardships that families face all across the world.

AS Families are the most intimate social environment. They are the places where we begin the vital processes of socialising our children, and teaching them — in partnership with countless others in the community — how to survive and thrive in the world.
