But the book : here
Children in those days during
their summer vacations mostly reach to their grandparent’s home as soon the
holidays begin. Simply playing all the day, reading a little and watching TV in
the neighbourhood was a usual way of spending time in summer here in South
India during 80 and 90's.
DoorDarshan was the only TV
channel available to both adults &children to look out for entertainment. A
popular song on the theme of National Integration "Meli Sur Mera Tumhara' was
broadcasted at regular intervals in the channel. In this song many famous
personalities of India would appear in relation to the state in which they were
from. This is the medium which introduced many children of the era to the
India's one of the famous cartoonists.
With this many of you might
have guessed rightly that about whom I'm talking about.
Yes, it's none other than the
MARIO MIRANDA. The one who had done the illustrations for the legendary writer
Ruskin bond's THE ROOM ON THE ROOF when it was serialised in The
Illustrated Weekly.
Mario Miranda is undoubtedly one of the stalwarts
of the Indian cartoonist landscape, giving us beloved characters like Miss
Fonseca and Miss Rajni Nimbupaani. In 2016, Google honoured Mario with a doodle
to celebrate his exemplary work.
Here is a
book HUMOUR WITH MARIO MIRANDA with words by Pervin Saket and pictures by
Devika Oza made with lot of care and dedication.. It stands out in every way as one of the bests in Children’s books
in recent times. The style in which the information is presented about the
cartoonist is sure to make the children read the book with enthusiasm.
The book is fine in all respects
to introduce “a creator” to the kids. After reading the book
parents will agree to the statement written on the book - “This simple text
written in verse is the perfect way to introduce little readers to BIG VALUES.”
The
book delivers a lot of scope to creativity and bring in interest in children.
The story is presented in a humorous way briefing children about passion,
dedication, struggle and hard work needed to fulfil once ambition. The choice
of humour as a medium may be because humor activates the
brain’s dopamine reward system, stimulating goal-oriented motivation and
long-term memory, which means that humor can improve retention in children of
all ages There
are scientific evidences that state, when used properly, humor can facilitate
learning, both directly, by helping children remember the material better, as
well as indirectly, by helping foster a more positive learning environment.
“People with a sense of humor
tend to be more creative, less rigid, and more willing to consider and embrace
new ideas and methods” confirms a study.
So, making a little more room
for laughter in our lives should be a no-brainer. We enhance our
creativity and problem-solving power, bolster our health, and get a rush of
good feelings.
Do buy a copy of this book for
your children and you are sure to admire with their feedback.
