A TEMPLE FOR JATAYU ALONG WITH LORD RAMA

The Divya Kshetram "TIRUPPUTKUZHI" is located 11 Kms from Kanchi Puram on the Katpadi road. The presiding deity is Vijayaraghava perumal in  a seated posture and the Goddess is Maragathavalli in  a separate sanctum. The sacred water is Jatayu Theertham and the sanctum Sanctorum is vijayakoti vimanam.

The legend has it that Lord Rama estranged from Sita performed the last rites to Jatayu, who succumbed to the wounds inflicted by Ravana, by offering tarpana at this place and hence the name Tiru Pul Kuzhi.

The presiding deity is found having Jatayu on his lap and interestingly Sri Devi and Bhoodevi are found in the interchanged position in the sanctum.

On this RAMA NAVAMI day offer prayers to Lord Rama and seek his blessings.
