This is about an article I love
to share with you all, which I read long back and it is part of my scrap book.
It is about sustainability in the kitchen. YES! It is about the place of
cooking and cleaning, which serves the household. What can be done towards eco-
friendly home from there?
Architect SATHYA PRAKASH
VARANASHI has the answer – A BRICK CHIMNEY.
“The idea of kitchen as a central issue in an
Eco –friendly house design is a new thought, though it may sound strange says
Sathya Prakash, but it can be dealt in an easy way he firmly assures.
LET’S SEE HOW IT WORKS:
In traditional homes, there would
be a chimney built with bricks, a narrow shaft going from up above the stove
all the way to the roof. It is still possible to have it, fabricated in metal,
fixed between kitchen space and final roof such that it sucks the heated –up
air and the smell. It can be made to look like an electric chimney, but would
actually be a natural one, consuming no power, making no sound and requiring no
cleaning.
Isn’t it a big surprise, bringing
in a whole new sustainability in the kitchen?
Try to fix it if you going to step into your own new house. It surely
relives you from electricity charges, fan like sound, periodic filter cleaning
and waste of money. Above all you are definitely towards attaining an Eco friendly
home.
