·       Mattur is a beautiful village in the Shivamogga district of the state Karnataka. It is a unique village where all the residents speak the divine language Sanskrit and the village is popularly known as Sanskrit village.  This village has been at the forefront of the movement to keep spoken Sanskrit alive.  The schools in Mattur have some of the best academic records in the district. According to the teachers, learning Sanskrit helps the student develop an aptitude for maths &logic as well. Many of the Mattur’s young have gone aboard to study Engineering or Medicine and the village boast of at least one software engineering in every family.

·       Almost every day, there is a performance of pooja, sacrifice, chanting Vedic hymns and many social gathering in accordance with our religious customs and culture of our country. Though they all learn, follow and implement ancient teachings, at the same time all are aware of the modern education& technologies and put use it optimal places. This village is embellished by the river Tunga. It is also to be noted that thick and dense rows of gigantic trees add more natural beauty to the village.

·       We all in our family visited this place in May 2014 after reading about this village in a daily Newspaper. This year in July there was a marriage of our friend in Mattur. But we all missed the chance to be a part of the celebration due to the pandemic. As soon as the world wins over the covid-19, we are planning to make a happy trip to this village.
