a sub –continent with about 28 states and 9 union territories is a land of Unity
in Diversity. In India in the name of Udaipur, there are two cities, one in
Rajasthan &the other in Tripura.
Normally
people across the Globe are familiar with UDAIPUR, a city in Rajasthan. It is
predominately known as the city of lakes & is famous for Rajput era
palaces.
Interestingly
there is one more Udaipur in India in the North Eastern state of Tripura. Udaipur
is situated on the banks of the river Gomti, is a city of lakes & palaces.

Neermahal in Tripuras’s Udaipur is the only
water palace in Eastern India. This is on the lake Rudrasagar.

Built in 1930 by Raja Bir Bikram Kishore
Manikya Bahadur, Access to the palace is by boat, it is about 55 Kms from
Agartala. Boat festival is held at the Lake annually.

It is a blend of Hindu-Muslim architecture and
is about 400m in length. It was Maharaja’s summer resort with 24 rooms
