A FAMOUS TEMPLE IN CHIDAMBARAM FOR THE LORD OF DANCE

 




This Divya kshetram  Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu is also called as TIRUCHITRAKOODAM. The vast Nataraja temple complex is referred to as kovil by saivites , as the Srirangam temple by the vaishnavites.

The presiding deity is Govindaraja perumal in  a reclining posture  in Sri Nataraja temple and the Goddess is Pundarikavalli. The sacred water is pundarika Pushkarini and the sanctum santorum is satvika vimanam.

All the Gods and Devas are believed to have assembled here to witness the cosmic dance - the dance of Lord Nataraja

It is believed that Bharatha Muni has established the Bharata Natya sashtra at this kshetram.
