William Moulton enumerated five slogans which formed the basis of the "Audio- Lingual Method":
1. Language is speech, not writing
2. A Language is a set of habits
3. Teach the language, not about the language
4. A language is what natives speakers say, not what someone thinks they say
5. Languages are different.
