1. One of the uses of ultrasound is in antenatal assessment. As a probe is passed over the abdomen, a transducer transmits a pulse of ultrasound every millisecond.
2. The pulses are reflected back by tissue in their path and appear as bright spots on a dark screen.
3. The spots form an accurate image of the foetus.
