1. Sound recording converts sound waves into electrical signals and stores them in a retrievable format.
2. There are two main types of recording: a) ANALOUGE - magnetic tape, vinyl record
b) DIGITAL - compact disc.
3. On records, the signals are stored as a spiral groove; on tapes, they are recorded as varying levels of magnetism on two tracks.
4. On CD's, the signals are transformed into binary numbers, represented by pits and spaces.
