BEST WAYS OF LAUNDERING COTTON FABRICS

Cotton is the most used and preferred fabric of the summer season. Everyone loves to wear cotton during this season. The clothes we use needs to be washed and dried to use it again.
Cotton clothes gets a more clean and fresh look when starched. Starching requires some amount of care and attention.

First examine the cloth to get to know about any special instructions to follow in washing and handling.

Sorting:  sort them out according to their size and colours.

Steeping: soak them in liquid soaps or detergents to remove dust and dirt. Soaking time depends on the liquids strength and quality of the fabric.

Washing: When the allotted time of soaking is over, wash it well with the help of a brush and stain removals if needed any.

Rinsing: Rinse the cloth well for two or three times in plain water to get rid of soap and detergent.

Stiffening and bleaching: Many stiffening agents are now available in the market, do follow the instructions and measurements to obtain good results. Bleaching can be done after stiffening, requirements vary for one fabric to the other.

Removal of moisture: Excess moisture from stiffening agents and bleach can be removed by allowing the fabric to drip off the excess moisture. Squeezing damages and impairs the starch effect.

Drying: White clothes can be made to dry in direct sunlight, were as colour clothes can be made to dry in shade in summer season.

Finishing: Before ironing, fabrics need to dried properly and must be folded in a proper way to get uniform ironing.

Ironing: Ironing must be done with utmost care and the variation in the heat must be strictly followed so as to get the fine look &form of the fabric.

गर्मीयों में पशु-पक्षियों की कदर



     मानव जीवन में  प्रकृति का साथ, पहले से लेकर आखिर तक लगा रहता है।  प्रकृति मानव जीवन को आसन बनाने के लिए, क्या कुछ नही करता या देता।  लेकिन मानव प्रकृति की ओर तोडा ज्यादा ही निर्लक्ष्य रहता है।  चाहे ओ पेड, पौधे, पशु-पक्षि, जल, हवा इत्यादि।  इनका ख्याल रखना मानव का एक प्रथम कर्तव्य है।  हमेशा न ही सही गर्मीयों के मौसँ में पशु-पक्षियों का कदर करना या उनका ख्याल रखना अत्यावश्यक है।  इस मौसँ में धूँप ज्यादा होने से छाँव और प्यास भूजाने के लिए पानी उपलब्ध करवायें तो लाभ दायक होगा।

·                  छत पर, खिड़कियों के पास, छज्जा में (Balcony) पानी की सुविधा बनाए।  ऊँची बरतनों में या बाल्टीयों में पानी भर के रखे।
·                  साथ ही होसके तो, धाने, चावल या बचे कुचे, कुछ खाने की चींजे रखे।
·                  घर के पालतू जानवरों को छाँव में बान्ध के रखे और ज्यादा देर उन्हे भूखा ना रखे ।  या अकसर पानी या दूध पीलाए।
·                  शाम को या सवेरे ही बाहर घुमाये।
·                  वक्त मिलने पर उन्हे नेहलाए।  बहुत दिनों तक न यूही रखे।
·                  उनके बच्चे हों तो उनको पास ही रहने दे।
·                  बीमार होने पर डाक्टर को तुरन्त बुलाए।
·                  घर के पास पेड होतो, उन्हे घनें ही रहने दे, डालियों को मत काटे, वह पक्षियों को टेहरने के लिए एक जगह बनेगा, साथ ही घोंसला बनाने में मददगार होगी।
इन्सानों के लिए भी छाँव पाना आसान होगा।

·                  छत पे बक्सों के द्वारा घोंसला जैसे नमूना रखने से पक्षियां निडर होके तोडे देर आराम से ठहरेंगे। 
·                  पत्तों से कुटीर  बनाने से कुछ पक्षियों के लिए आसरा बनेगा।

: Plan for a vacation in a hill station.  -  If time &everything permits, it’s the best time to spend in a hill stations with weather conditions apt for the season.

: Try to avoid going out during 12pm and 3 pm – because at this time the temperature will be at its peak.

: wear only cotton clothes – with light colours that take less heat and absorbs too soon, which helps to avoid rashes and allergies

: hydrate yourself - have more water, tender coconuts, fruit juices or ORH at regular intervals, don’t wait till you feel thirsty.

:  make short hair cuts for children – which helps to keep away from excess sweat and their by no cold and cough.

:  spend evenings in outdoors - the parks, terrace or beaches to get more cool breeze and  time to get away from electric fans.

: use sun screen lotions – though many use caps, umbrellas and other items to keep away the ill effects of sunrays, it’s always better to use sunscreen lotions or other prescribed creams to avoid skin tan.

:  Eat lot of fruits - fruits like water melons, musk melons, ice apple a loaded with lots of vitamins &minerals which helps to compensate the loss due to sweat.

: No to hot &spicy food – it’s better to have less hot &spicy foods during summer, to free oneself from indigestion and dehydration problems

: Two times a day – Don’t forget to take bath at least twice a day to keep yourself free from sweat, body odour and other dermatological problems. Use prickle heat powder if required.

SPECIAL FEATURES OF CORIANDER

Coriander leaves and seeds are the most used in the kitchen where sambhar and Rasam are prepared, because without these the two dishes are not complete. Coriander seeds are the major ingredients in preparing sambar powder &rasam powder.

Coriander leaves are referred to as fresh coriander, Chinese parsley and cilantro. Many varieties of chutneys are prepared with coriander leaves and these are also used in salads. As heat diminishes their flavour, coriander leaves are often used raw or added to a dish immediately before serving. Chopped coriander leaves are a garnish on several Indian dishes. These are often included in Chinese and Mexican cooking.

The leaves are a wonderful source of dietary fibre, manganese, iron and magnesium as well. In addition, they are rich in vitamin C, vitamin K and protein. They also contain small amounts of calcium, phosphorous, potassium, thiamine, niacin and carotene.

Citronelol in coriander is an excellent antiseptic. Other components have anti –microbial, anti- arthritic, anti-rheumatic properties. Coriander is traditionally used in the treatment of swelling, diarrhoea, eye care, digestion, mouth ulcers, anaemia, and skin disorders.

·       Chop coriander leaves. Remove hard stem and grind to a smooth paste with onion, green chillies and salt. Add lime juice to taste. Mix well and serve with Idlli, dosa, or with plain white rice.
